Formal education in communication studies in its various specialities in Spain dates back to 1941, when the Official School of Journalism was created, based in Madrid. Subsequently, the Institute of Cinematographic Research and Experiences (1947), the Institute of Journalism of the General Study of Navarra (1958), the School of Journalism of the Church (1960), the Official School of Advertising (1964) and the Official School of Broadcasting and Television (1964) were established.
